Biography

Guitarist and lutenist Adrian Murillo began playing music at a young age on different instruments and genres including electric and acoustic guitar before beginning his classical guitar studies under the tutelage of Francisco Guerrero in Tijuana, Mexico.
Adrian completed both his Bachelor and Master studies at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music majoring in classical guitar performance with an emphasis on historical plucked instruments. During this time he studied under David Tanenbaum, Marcin Dylla, Judical Perroy, John Dearman, and Richard Savino. He has also participated in master classes where he played for William Kanengaiser, Zoran Dukic, flamenco guitarist Antonio Rey, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Pavel Steidl, Margarita Escarpa, Paul O'dette, Meng Su, among others. Hi studies have also taken him to Granada, Spain where he focused on flamenco performance where he studied with several guitar and dance teachers.
Adrian has performed as a soloist as well as part of orchestras and ensembles throughout the bay area and beyond. Some groups include the San Francisco Opera, Bay Area Classical Harmonies, West Bay Opera, Opera Neo, Mission Chamber Orchestra, SFCM Baroque Orchestra. He also played with the Oregon Bach Festival Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Monica Huggett.
Adrian plays a guitar by Bay Area based luthier, Glenn Canin and an 11-string archguitar by Nathaniel Rich.
